Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil

Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil

Crambe abyssinica is a good source of fatty acids, such as oleic and linoleic acids. When applied topically, fatty acids are considered to help promote hair shaft hydration and protection.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can help protect our skin and hair from damage caused by UV rays and environmental stressors.

1. Start with Clean, Damp Hair

Apply to clean, towel-dried hair that’s about 80% dry. This helps lock in moisture and protect the hair’s natural lipid barrier.

2. Dispense the Oil

Use 2–3 drops for short to medium hair or 4–5 drops for long or thick hair. Warm between palms before applying.

3. Apply the Oil

Focus on the ends and mid-lengths, avoiding roots unless scalp is dry. Ensure even distribution through all strands.

4. Gently Comb Hair

Gently comb through with fingers or a wide-tooth comb, starting from the ends to prevent breakage.

5. Style & Maintain

Style as desired. Use after each wash or whenever hair feels dry or frizzy for lasting protection and shine.

How to know if you have (irreversible) hair loss?

Scarring is the destruction of the hair follicle, and apart from a few rare exceptions such as cicatricial alopecia, it typically doesn't occur in the early stages of hair loss. On the contrary, having bald spots where hair hasn't grown in a long time may be a sign of scarring and therefore irreversible hair loss. To get an accurate diagnosis, we always recommend seeking medical advice. Customers with a subscription including the Bio-Pilixin® Serum can also speak with our certified trichologist who can help them make the most of our products.

Causes of hair loss

Stress

Stress-related hair loss tends to resolve on its own once the stressful event is over. That said, Bio-Pilixin® may be an effective aid in growing your hair back and maintaining its strength long term.

Genetics

Genetic hair loss cannot be prevented or reversed, but it may be delayed with the appropriate treatment when started in the early stages. Preliminary research on Bio-Pilixin® suggests that it can help balance the hair growth cycle, and therefore may be an effective aid in managing genetic hair loss.

Types of hair loss

Male pattern hair loss (MPHL)

MPHL is often caused by caused by a combination of hormonal and genetic factors, and is characterised by thinning on the crown of the head and receding hairlines. MPHL cannot be prevented or reversed, but it may be delayed with the appropriate treatment when started in the early stages. Preliminary research on Bio-Pilixin® suggests that it can help balance the hair growth cycle, and therefore may be an effective aid in managing MPHL.

Thinning on top and crown of head

Hair loss on the top and crown of the head is likely due to Male Pattern Hair Loss, which is caused by a combination of genetic factors and the effects of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

Receding hairline

A receding hairline is also caused by Male Pattern Hair Loss most of the time, where the balding can start at the temples which then usually develops into a distinct “M” shape.

Patchy bald spots

When sudden hair loss results in coin-sized bald patches, it is usually caused by alopecia areata. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease causing the immune system to attack the hair follicles. Both men and women can experience this type of hair loss, and in most cases, the hair grows back by itself. Alopecia areata doesn’t have a cure but there are treatments that can help manage the condition including steroid injections, topical and oral medications. Bio-Pilixin® has not been tested on individuals with alopecia areata. However, it may be a useful addition to treatments known to improve the condition. If you’re considering the use of Bio-Pilixin® for alopecia areata, we recommend speaking to your medical provider first.

Diffuse thinning & visible scalp

Diffuse hair loss is characterised by shedding across the entire scalp leading to a “see-through” appearance, and it can be caused by a number of reasons. Telogen effluvium (triggered by an acute traumatic event), thyroid issues, iron deficiency anemia, malnutrition, rapid weight loss or low vitamin D levels. While this is a typical pattern in Female Pattern Hair Loss, in men, it usually indicates one of the above issues rather than Male Pattern Hair Loss.

Drugs and other hair loss treatments

Prescription hair‑loss medication

There is no specific trial data on the combined use of our Bio‑Pilixin® serum with doctor‑prescribed oral treatments. However, both products generally serve different functions in supporting hair health, and there are no known contraindications when used together. We still recommend consulting your healthcare provider to get personalised advice tailored to your specific needs.

Minoxidil

Bio-Pilixin® has not been tested for use alongside minoxidil, therefore, we cannot state whether it’s safe or effective when applied together. If ever in doubt, we recommend consulting an accredited healthcare professional.

Hair transplant

Hair transplant is an invasive surgical procedure, which may require several weeks of recovery time where the scalp might be red, swollen, and particularly sensitive. Therefore, we do not recommend using Bio-Pilixin® after this procedure without consulting your doctor. We have received feedback from customers who have had hair transplants and are using our Bio-Pilixin Serum to stimulate newly embedded hair follicles, reportedly with favourable results. However, individual experiences may vary, and professional medical advice should be your primary guide.

Others

Allergies

Bio-Pilixin® was patch tested under dermatological control on a group of 25 volunteers with normal skin. In the tested group of volunteers there were no irritations or allergic reactions. That said, any ingredient can cause allergic reactions, so we recommend performing a patch test before using our products or consulting a healthcare professional when in doubt.

No, the Hair Protection Oil utilises plant-based alternatives. Many hair oils on the market contain silicones. While silicones are excellent hair shaft protectors, we wanted to create an oil that was more suitable for those that for any reason would not like to use silicone based products.

Yes, patch tests were performed under dermatological control on a group of 25 volunteers with normal skin. In the tested group of volunteers there were no irritations or allergic reactions.

Our Hair Protection Oil is free of the 26 major allergens. Notably, the hair oil is also fragrance-free so it is intended to be used by those with sensitivities to both natural and synthetic scents.

If you for any reason are unsure, perform a patch test before application. To perform a patch test simply apply a small amount of the product onto a clean area of skin on the upper forearm, following 24 hours rinse the area. If any redness, itching, blistering or irritation is observed at any time throughout the test, do not use the product.

While the hair oil is suitable for all hair types, it is especially suited for those with longer hair, who have a desire to prevent and repair damaged ends

The oil aims to be lightweight so that it will not weigh down hair. It may be heavier than conventional hair oils, as it utilises plant-based alternatives instead of silicones.

The Hair Protection Oil contains the ingredient, Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer. The ingredient has been demonstrated to help protect the hair shaft from temperatures up to 230 celcius and the Hair Protection Oil uses the recommended concentration by the supplier.

The Hair Protection Oil does not contain conventional UV filters. This is mainly due to the difficulty of finding environmentally-friendly filters.
